Overview of the LMC

The MCHS Library Media Center has been developed as an information and technology resource center for the academic needs of primarily the high school community: students, faculty, administrators and staff. Other members of the community such as the Child Study Center, Grade School, College, Graduate School and other members may avail too of the HS-LMC resources.

It houses a rich and updated book collection, reference materials, periodicals, AV materials and electronic resources, equipment collection, the media production room, and viewing facilities for administrators, faculty, and students. There are computer workstations for Internet Research and Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) for the users.

The Library Media Center has two main service areas:

1. Library– The library area houses all print collection and accompanying materials like CDs; it also has computer workstations for OPAC use, internet research and CD-ROM viewing. It also has sections for all the professional education books and journals and the school archives which are accessible only to faculty and administrators. Lastly, it also houses the archival collection of Miriam College High School.

Librarians and paraprofessionals assigned to work in this area involve themselves with acquisitions and cataloging of books, indexing of all relevant journals and magazines, circulation, references services and supervision of students’ use of the print resources.

2. Audio Visual Center– This area houses all the non-print materials and the A-V equipments of the LMC. It also has sections for media production, preview rooms and viewing rooms. The A-V librarian , A-V technicians and office assistant working in this area are in-charge of acquisitions and cataloging of non-print materials, circulation of the A-V materials and equipments and their use in the classrooms, managing the reservation schedule and use of the four (4) viewing rooms, two (2) preview rooms, and the media production facilities.

Location: The High School Library Media Center is housed in St. Teresa of Avila Hall located at the back of the St. Therese of Lisieux Building and beside the HS Covered Court.

Service Hours:
For the Library: 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
For the Audio-Visual Center: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
